CDC and the president’s administration release no new national restrictions at this time.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention released updated information about the COVID-19 pandemic on Wednesday. They reported that the majority of new cases across the country were a mutated form of the COVID-19 disease known as the Delta variant. Two weeks prior only 30.4% of cases were the Delta variant, whereas the last two weeks saw cases increase to 51.7%
Members of the CDC have assured the public that the available vaccines are still effective to the Delta variant, and urge Americans to get vaccinated as soon as possible. On Tuesday, White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki said that the president’s administration was not planning on taking any national action against the rise of the variant since adult vaccinations were at nearly seventy percent.
